The Dolphins and Giants open up their preseason slates when they go head-to-head live Friday night from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Miami enters after a forgetful 2015 that saw it finish 6-10 and in fourth place in the AFC East. The Dolphins missed the playoffs for the seventh straight season.

New York, meanwhile, also finished 6-10, placing them third in the NFC East. The Giants missed the playoffs for the fourth straight season and haven't made the postseason since winning Super Bowl XLVI in 2011-12.

It's a new era for the Giants Tom Coughlin and the team parted ways this offseason and now former offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo takes the reins as head coach.

McAdoo was a solid choice by Big Blue as he already has experience wokring with veteran quarterback Eli Manning. Manning will have the explosive Odell Beckham Jr. at his disposal again this season in the receiver's third NFL campaign.

While Manning is unlikely to play much on Friday, the Giants' revamped defense will be on full display. The club brought in defensive end Olivier Vernon and cornerback Janoris Jenkins to shore up their shaky defense this offseason. Damon "Snacks" Harrison will also be in a familiar place after bolting the Jets for their MetLife Stadium co-tenants the Giants.

Miami also has a new head coach in Adam Gase, who is a former offensive coordinator for the Broncos. Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill will also look for a bounce-back season.

The Dolphins will be without new running back Arian Foster, who is dealing with an Achilles injury.
