Sasha Banks recently won the WWE Women's Championship as the revolution of ladies wrestling continues in the WWE.

It was expected that "The Boss" would dethrone Charlotte at SummerSlam on Aug. 21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but the WWE opted to book her for a surprise win instead. Banks won the gold on the first post-WWE Draft episode of "Monday Night RAW," ending a lenghty reign for Charlotte.

The push of Banks and the previous strong storytelling for Charlotte are all part of the WWE's Women's Revolution as an emphasis on longer matches and better storylines conitnues to be put on the women's division.

Stephanie McMahon, a huge backer of the women's movement, has made it clear that times are changing in the WWE. The daughter of Vince McMahon recently heaped praise on Banks, while also talking about the spectrum of women's wrestling as a whole.

"I feel such a shift in the way our women are portrayed, the opportunity they are given, and when given that opportunity, these women are tearing the house down and stealing the show with every chance they get," McMahon told ESPN. "Sasha said, 'I'm going to prove that I belong by being so good they can't ignore me.' That just about sums up Sasha Banks and what she has been able to do. The greatest part is these women are only just getting started."

It hasn't been an easy road for Banks. Despite having a series of tremendous matches in NXT with Bayley and serving as the most over woman on the main roster after her call-up, it took a while for her push to begin.

Banks has one of the best characters, is a great personality and is very good in the ring, but the WWE machine didn't get behind her until last month. She disappeared altogether in the months following WrestleMania 32, but now it seems big things await her in the future.

Now, the push for Banks is going full speed and she's set to battle Charlotte in a high-profile rematch for the Women's Championship at SummerSlam.
