Team USA looks to continue its strong bid for a third straight gold medal, while Australia looks for a big win in Group A action as part of the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

These teams are both tied atop the Group A standings with four points apiece, placing them ahead of Serbia (3), France (3), Venezuela (2) and China (2).

The United States enters play after a 113-69 victory over Venezuela last time out.

Paul George put up 20 points in the victory, while DeAndre Jordan added 14 of his own and notched 11 rebounds. Kevin Durant (16) and Carmelo Anthony (14) also reached double digits in points and are the lone holdovers from the 2012 gold medal team from the London Olympics.

The victory over Venezuela came after a win against China in which Anthony spoke about making a statement.

"We just wanted to send a statement to the rest of the world," Anthony told CBS Sports. "Come out this first game and let everybody know that we're focused, we're locked in and we're about business on this trip."

Team USA is without many faces from 2012, including LeBron James, but they widely expected to earn their third straight gold medal given the superstars they do have.

"Just because they aren't here today, we've got another batch of guys that's walking around on the streets saying they want to win a gold medal and we all have something in common," Durant said. "It's cool to have a fraternity of guys who have won a gold medal. It's rare."

Australia defeated Serbia, 95-80, last time out and is also 2-0 in these games.
