The men's singles tennis tournament is set to kick-off in Rio de Janeiro as part of the summer Olympic games.

Many marquee matchups are set for Saturday as the quest for the gold begins. Though top names like Sebia's Novak Djokavic won't have a singles matchup on Day 1, there is still plenty to watch for.

Kicking off the bracket, in Section 1, Jordan Thompson (Australia) and Kyle Edmund (Great Britain) go head-to-head, while China's Taro Daniel battles the United States' Jack Sock -- with each match set for 11:30 a.m. ET.

Also in the Section 1 bracket, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France tangles with Tunisia's Malek Jaziri at 12:45 p.m. ET.

There are several other contests in Sections 2, 3, and 4 slated for Saturday.

The last match of the day will see Gael Monfils of France take on Vasek Pospisil of Canada at 3:45 p.m. ET.

Over in the women's bracket, the action gets underway at 10 a.m. and the last match is slated for 4 p.m. as Italy's Roberta Vinci collides with Anna Karolina Schmiedlova of Slovakia.
