Team USA is hoping to float its way to victory.

Given the conditions of Rio de Janeiro and the scarcity of hotel rooms ahead of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, the team had to improvise.

The men's and women's teams are staying on a 16,800 ton ship called the Silver Cloud with security that works around the clock and a bulletproof wall to keep out intruders, according to TMZ Sports.

The ship sounds nicer than a hotel and has a pool, cigar lounge, gym and bar, according to the report.

Staying on a ship isn't new to Team USA and as one of their representatives pointed out, it made a lot of sense given what's going on in Rio right now.

"Hotel rooms were scarce in Rio," a source told TMZ Sports. "we ended up getting some rooms on the ship for our teams."

Team USA also isn't alone on the journey.

"This is not something new, in 2004 we stayed on a ship for the Athens Olympics," the rep said. "The U.S. men's and women's basketball teams are not the only guests on the ship, there are others outside the organization."

Team USA tips off its schedule when the women play Senegal as part of Group B action on Sunday. The men play France on Aug. 14 in Group A action to open up their slate. The Opening Ceremonies for the Olympic Games kick off on Friday.

Due to the natural size of basketball players, beds had to be adjusted to accomodate the over 7-foot tall Team USA stars, according to The Daily Mail.

Now that they're settled in, the men's and women's Team USA clubs are hoping to go for the gold.
