The Battle of New York will take place between Monday and Thursday as the Yankees and Mets get set to clash in the 2016 Subway Series.

These teams will face-off at Citi Field in Queens for Games 1 and 2 on Monday and Tuesday before the set shifts to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx for Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Yankees enter the Subway Series with a 52-52 record and are seven games out in the AL East and 5 1/2 games back for the final AL Wild Card spot. The Mets, meanwhile, enter Monday at 54-50, sit 6.5 games out in the NL East and 2 1/2 back in the Wild Card race.

It's been a disappointing season for both clubs as the Yankees have gone into full-on sell mode, dealing closer Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs, set-up man Andrew Miller to the Indians and their best hitter, outfielder Carlos Beltran, to the Rangers.

The Mets are defending NL champions, but are just four games over .500 as they deal with injuries to several stars.

Matt Harvey (shoulder) is done for the season, while Zack Wheeler is still slowly recovering from his Tommy John surgery. The Mets are also missing David Wright (neck), Jose Reyes (intercostal), Lucas Duda (back) and Juan Lagares (thumb), while Asdrubal Cabrera (knee) is likely headed to the DL as well.

The Yankees have traded away 2/3 of their three-headed monster in the bullpen, leaving just Dellin Betances from the triad, while in Beltran they lost a player who led them in average (.304), homers (22) and RBIs (64).

Yoenis Cespedes has been the Mets best player, leading the club in all three categories as well. The outfielder is dealing with a quad injury, but is hitting .291 with 22 homers and 58 RBIs.

While the Yankees bullpen has suffered a major blow, Mets closer Jeurys Familia enters play leading the majors with 37 saves and set-up man Addison Reed has been an eighth inning wonder.

The Yankees own a 60-44 edge in regular season play between these two teams and took the World Series from their Queens counterparts in five games back in 2000.
