It turns out the "date" J.J. Watt went on with Kate Hudson wasn't actually a date after all.

The Internet was buzzing last week after the actress fired off a Snapchat video that featured Watt in it. From all appearances, the two were out to dinner and acting flirty with one another.

Apparently despite their chemistry together on the app, they are not an item. Hudson recently cleared the air after speculation rose over the pair being the latest athlete-celebrity couple.

"Oh, oh we actually just have the same agent," Hudson told Entertainment Tonight. "We were at like a big dinner. That's just what happens. Yeah, we have the same agent."

So those hoping for a budding romance between Watt and Hudson have had their hopes dashed. Looks like the two were just having fun during a group outing on Snapchat.

During the dinner, the Texans defensive end and the "Kungfu Panda 3" actress were playing with a filter that displays animated stars over the people in the video on the app. Watt playfully got frustrated when the stars would display over Hudson, but the filter didn't work on him.

It had appeared the two were on a date and Watt even referred to it as such in the Snapchat video.

"Apparently, the stars belong to the hottest person on the date," Watt said in the video, which was captured by TMZ.

The four-time Pro Bowler then addressed his relationship status on Twitter last week, confirming that he is indeed single despite the perceived new relationship.

It wouldn't have been the first time Hudson dated an athlete, as she was linked to Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez in the past and also had a relationship with golfer Adam Scott. Watt has had some high-profile relationships of his own with singer Katie Perry and tennis sensation Caroline Wozniacki.

Since then, Watt has been notably single and focused on his career.

Despite their fun on social media, Watt and Wozniacki are not Hollywood's next hot couple.
