After a grueling 82-game slate, the Mavericks and Thunder hit the court at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City for Game 1 of their Round 1 best-of-seven NBA playoff series.

Oklahoma City won 57 games this season and won the Northwest division for the fifth time in six years and first time in two seasons, finishing third in the Western Conference. Dallas, meanwhile, clinched the No. 6 seed in the playoffs after finishing second in the Southwest division to get to the playoffs for the third straight year.

After winning a title in 2010-11, the Mavericks have exited the playoffs in the opening round in each year since, aside from 2012-13 when they missed the postseason entirely. Dallas suffered a first-round exit at the hands of Oklahoma City in 2011-12.

The last time the Thunder entered the postseason, they fell to the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals in six games..

Kevin Durant carried the offense for the Thunder this season, notching 28.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in the regular season, while Russell Westbrook contributed a team-best 10.4 assists per game.

For the Mavericks, Dirk Nowitzki paced the offense with 18.3 points per game. Zaza Pachulia (9.4) led the way in rebounds per game, while Deron Williams (5.8) did the same in assists.
