In the opening game, this series lived up to expectations as a physical battle with some elite players at each position. Game 2 should be more of the same when the Sharks and Kings face-off live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday.

San Jose is looking to take full control by earning a 2-0 series lead before it shifts to San Jose for the first time, while Los Angeles will look to take advantage of home-ice by evening things up.

The two teams traded goals in Game 1 on Thursday, but in the end the Sharks took a 4-3 lead to win a big game on the road against their California rival.

Joe Pavelski notched two goals -- including the game-winner 17 seconds into the third period -- for the Sharks in Game 1, while Brent Burns and Tomas Hertl also lit the lamp for San Jose. Playing in his first playoff game as a member of the Sharks, Joel Ward notched two assists.

For Los Angeles, Jake Muzzin, Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis each had a goal in the loss. Milan Lucic had two assists in his first playoff game in a Kings jersey.

In net, Martin Jones was able to out-play his former teammate and mentor Jonathan Quick to earn a crucial Game 1 road win. Jones faced 24 shots and turned aside 21, while Quick yielded four goals on 23 shots.
