New surveillance footage reveals some interesting details behind the events that eventually led up to the death of former NFL star Will Smith.

In the latest video, taken from three different establishments along the street in New Orleans where the accident first occurred, two cars that fit the police report descriptions of Smith's and his eventual shooter's, Cardall Jones, are seen.

The footage, obtained by Fox 8 in New Orleans, shows a Mercedes, believed to be driven by Smith, rear-end a Hummer, which Hayes was said to be driving. After Smith bumps into Hayes' car, which is captured on camera, the red hummer pulls over, likely so the two can exchange information.

Rather than pull behind him, Smith's Mercedes swerves into the other lane and speeds off, prompting Hayes' hummer to speed up in an attempt to catch up to it. The footage ends there, but that's when cops say Hayes later caught up to Smith and rear-ended his car.

Hayes and Smith had a heated exchange, which led to the latter shooting and killing the former, while also shooting Smith's wife, Racquel, in the leg. Though Smith unfortunately passed away due to this deplorable act of violence, his wife was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

Smith, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2012, was drafted by the Saints in 2004 and amassed 324 tackles and two interceptions in his career after spending 10 seasons in New Orleans. His death sent shockwaves throughout the NFL, leading to many of his former peers, coaches and teammates taking to social media to remember him.

The Saints won their first and only Super Bowl with Smith to complete the 2009-10 season, defeating the Colts, 31-17.
