Ciara found just what she was looking for in Russell Wilson.

The R&B singer has been romantically linked to the Seahawks quarterback for over a year, and the happy couple announced their engagement last month. For Ciara, Wilson has everything she was hoping for in a man.

"I remember telling my friend the kind of guy I wanted," Ciara said in the May issue of Essence. "A God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me."

The "Dance Like We're Making Love" artist appears on the cover of Essence and also opened up about how excited she is to get married to the Super Bowl XLVIII champion.

"Marriage is something I look forward to," Ciara said. "I believe in family, and the beauty of two people committing to spend their lives together. We talk about everything. To me, to both of us, that's the foundation you need for love to flourish and to reach its highest place."

Ciara was close to marching down the aisle with her ex-fiancé Future, but the couple eventually called off the wedding. Wilson was previously married to Ashton Meem, but he has since been divorced.

The singer has already started a family by having a baby, Future Jr., with her former rapper fiancé. Her child has a great bond with his soon-to-be stepdad Wilson, which includes trips to Dodger Stadium and an Easter weekend getaway to Disneyland.

Ciara has tried to put her issues with Future behind her in order to focus on a lifetime of happiness with Wilson. Part of their bond includes returning to their religious roots by taking a vow of celibacy before their marriage.

Though she went through a rough time by unexpectedly becoming a single mother, Ciara is staying positive as she and Wilson prepare to tie the knot.

"I want to live with as much lightness as possible, so I can stay focused on my love of God, and being the best mom, and the best person, I can be," she said.
