Manny Pacquiao is reportedly open to facing Saul "Canelo" Alvarez if he decides to delay his retirement, but Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya sounded uninterested in the bout.

Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum told reporters on Wednesday that Pacquiao could still fight if he wins against Timothy Bradley in their upcoming rematch on April 9 at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And if presented with a proposal to face Alvarez, Arum has no doubt in mind Pacquiao will accept the fight against the reigning World Boxing Council middleweight champion, who is scheduled to face Amir Khan on May 7.

"Manny is the kind of guy that doesn't care about how much more an opponent weighs," Arum said via Bad Left Hook. "So Manny would be happy to go in, say, with Canelo, if Canelo beat Khan. That would be a really good fight."

When asked about the proposed Pacquiao-Alvarez fight, De La Hoya is not ruling it out. However, the Hall of Famer hinted that it might be too late because they have bigger plans for Canelo if he ends up keeping his title after his Cinco de Mayo fight with Alvarez.

"I think that train has already left the station," De La Hoya said of the Pacquiao-Canelo fight via BoxingScene. "Canelo will now fight the guy that Pacquiao didn't want to fight, the guy that Mayweather didn't want to fight. Canelo is fighting with Amir Khan, and after that we have to discuss other big names there at 160 pounds."

De La Hoya hinted that they will most likely consider facing reigning World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organization middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

Golovkin, who owns a perfect 34-0 record with 31 knockouts, is the mandatory challenger to Canelo's WBC middleweight title. If the 33-year-old Kazakh wins against Dominic Wade on April 23, Canelo has to defend his title against Golovkin or run risk of getting stripped off his belt.
