Colin Kaepernick's temptations to move to the Big Apple may be about more than the Jets.
The quarterback has been dating "Girl Code" star Nessa Diab since July, but they just publicly revealed their relationship over Valentine's Day weekend. The MTV star dated Kaepernick's former 49ers teammate, Aldon Smith, who was cut from the team in August following DUI arrests, in the past.
Colin Kaepernick Finally Goes Public With New Flame
The 2012 NFC champion recently revealed his desire to play for the Jets, a team that is billed from New York and plays in New Jersey.
Though Gang Green, coming off of a 10-win season, seems like a more suitable team to play for than last-place San Francisco (5-11), Kaepernick's desire to be close to Diab could be fueling his sudden Northeast admiration.
Colin Kaepernick Could Save Rams In L.A.
On top of her MTV duties, Diab is also a personality for Hot 97 in New York City. Since Kaepernick hasn't been having great luck with the 49ers over the past few years, a change of scenery can benefit him in more ways than one.
The former second-round NFL Draft pick obviously can't play for the Giants with franchise quarterback Eli Manning under center, so he made his desire to play for the other MetLife Stadium tenant known.
The Jets are likely to re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick, but at age 33, he's more of a stopgap than a long-term solution at the most important position in the sport.
Kaepernick, 28, has shown signs of promise in his career despite recent struggles, but a lot of financial hurdles would have to be cleared in order for his dream to play for the "City That Never Sleeps" to come true.
Until then, moving closer to Diab resembles more of a pipe dream.
