Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott has a love/hate relationship with the comparisons to Tim Tebow.

The NFL Draft hopeful is trying to prove his worth at the next level this week at the Reese's Senior Bowl, according to al.com.

And that likely means shedding himself from the Tebow label.

"The Mississippi State star is one of eight quarterbacks at this year's Reese's Senior Bowl, which takes place Saturday at Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium," al.com reported. "And in South team workouts this week leading up to the game, he's trying to show that he's not just another Tebow -- that is, a spread offense star in college who does not have the passing skills to make it as an NFL quarterback."

Tim Tebow's Ticket Back Into NFL Could Be Tied To Coach Adam Gase

"I can make all the throws on the field, not just set up from the (shot)gun," Prescott said Tuesday. "That's something I want to show the people here."

Tebow, now an analyst for SEC Network, has a career completion percentage of 47.9, but he also has 989 career rushing yards -- not to mention an 8-6 record as a starter -- in three seasons.

Both Prescott and Tebow were students under Bulldogs coach Dan Mullin, who was Tebow's offensive coordinator at Florida. Even Prescott, who threw for 11,985 passing yards in his three years with the Bulldogs, qualifies any comparison to Tebow.

"I think that connection (to Tebow) really comes from the offense, the coach, maybe even the number, and the leadership ability," said Prescott, who wears No. 15. "Tim Tebow is a great leader, to be compared to him that way, I'll take that."

The comparison, however, is really about Prescott having to prove that he's a better throwing quarterback than Tebow.

"It's a great comparison as a college player, it's not so great of a comparison as a college player," al.com reported. "... Coming out of an offense that made Tim Tebow into a megastar, and turned Dak Prescott into a really successful player at Mississippi State, can (Prescott) show that is he not only a better passer, but is a significantly better passer than Tebow? That's one comparison that he's got to get past."
