In a dominating display, world no. 1 Aryna Sabalenka won her maiden Miami Open crown by beating fourth seed Jessica Pegula 7-5, 6-2. This win is Sabalenka's 19th WTA Tour title and her eighth at the WTA 1000 level, further proving why she's the best female tennis player in the world.
The last battle was a rematch of the finals of the 2024 US Open and Cincinnati, both of which Sabalenka had previously won. She took her head-to-head advantage over Pegula to 7-2 with this latest win.
Path to Victory: Sabalenka's Unyielding Form
During the tournament, Sabalenka was in outstanding form, losing not a single set. According to The Independent, her dominant forehand was an effective weapon, scoring 22 winners during the final match. The constant pressure put Pegula on the back foot, never allowing her to build her rhythm.

Sabalenka Was 'Speechless' After the Miami Open 2025 Win
The game started with Sabalenka breaking Pegula's serve to lead 2-0. Pegula, who ended Alex Eala's run in the semis, then fought back by winning three games in a row, but Sabalenka's determination saw her regain the upper hand, ultimately winning the first set 7-5.
In the second set, after Pegula broke early, Sabalenka's superiority took over as she won four games in a row, winning the set 6-2 and the championship.
"I'm speechless," Sabalenka told Sky Sports. "The last couple of finals were really tough and tight and close ones for me, so going into this one, I was so focused on myself. I was playing point by point, and now it feels super special. I'm super happy with the title. First one in Miami."
At one point during a post-game interview, Pegula jokingly swiped Sabalenka's victory margarita, showing their respect and close friendship with each other.
