Is Tim Tebow trying to play hard to get or maybe just not drawing the same level of interest he once did?
After being linked to teams from Jacksonville to Houston to Cleveland, the free agent quarterback has scarcely been seen in public of late, sans a reported sighting in Hawaii vacationing with his sister over the last week or so.
More to the point, Bleacherreport.com reports Tebow hasn't been seen on television nor heard on radio for weeks now. The website adds the 26-year-old NFL vet has also practically ignored all forms of his electronic, social media existence.
Still, those closest to him insist his gameplan remains the same. "He still truly believes he can play and compete at the NFL level, close friend David Nelson, who played with the former Heisman Trophy winner at Florida and is now a member of the Jets, told Bleachereport. "I talked to him a few weeks ago. He's still in shape. He's ready to go."
After various false starts in jump-starting his career, some of the rumored interest in the former Gators star seems feasible, particularly on the part of the floundering Jaguars.
Owner Shahid Khan recently scoffed at speculation the organization was meeting with Tebow, saying the Jags "need a lot of good players" to turn things around. Still, he didn't totally shoot down the idea of bringing Tebow in, and many Jaguar fans have openly campaigned for him to be brought aboard.
NFL sources have also speculated Jacksonville's front office is intrigued by the idea of what the ultra-popular Tebow might be able to do for the organization in terms of sparking greater fan interest in the struggling franchise.
"I'm obviously a Tim Tebow advocate," said Nelson. "I believe in him as a player and person. He brings so much to the game. The passion, the intelligence, the integrity-and people love to play with him."
