Remember that time people thought Elin Nordegren beat Tiger Woods with a nine-iron? Ed Glazar certainly didn't.

A candidate in the race for Kankakee County state's attorney, Glazar dressed up like Woods for Halloween in 2010. One problem: He isn't a man of color.

Needless to say, the surrounding community -- which is 40-percent African American -- wasn't too receptive.

"I think it's quite insensitive," said Theodis Pace, president, NAACP-Kankakee County branch, per ABC7 Chicago. "With the climate, what's going on in Chicago, across the nation, I don't think an apology will be accepted and personally I think he should withdraw."

Glazar entered full damage control.

"I was appearing as Tiger Woods, a beat up Tiger Woods," he said. "There was no intent to be offensive or insulting to anybody. If anybody took it that way, I apologize.

"In retrospect, I would have just been more prudent and go as a different character. How this turned into this big firestorm five years later is beyond me, but again, it was not meant to offend anybody."

Clearly, this is a lesson people are still struggling to learn.

In Glazar's defense, it could've been worse. He hasn't dressed up as Greg Hardy for Halloween yet.
