--The quarterback matchup will see Alex Smith under center for the Chiefs and Tom Brady calling the signals for the Patriots. Smith has thrown for 3,486 yards with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while Brady has thrown for 4,770 yards with 35 scores and seven picks.

--Julien Edelman (broken foot) is expected to return for the Patriots, while Rob Gronkowski (knee) missed practice Thursday and may be limited. Chandler Jones, meanwhile was arrested under suspicious circumstances this week and it was linked to marijuana use. For the Chiefs, Jeremy Maclin (high-ankle sprain) didn't practice this week until seeing limited action on Thursday.

--The Chiefs defense could be key to this game. Kansas City forced 29 turnovers this season and it goes up against Brady, who was sacked 38 times in the regular season.
