The Seahawks’ piping hot offense is now better equipped than ever to thrive in the frigid Minnesota atmosphere Sunday afternoon because Marshawn Lynch is back, and practicing “as hard as ever,” according to coach Pete Carroll.
“He’s going to play and he’s look really good in practice,” Carroll said. “He’s practiced as hard as he ever has throughout the week just to prove to himself that he was right, I think, as well as everybody else. So he’s ready to go and we are anxious to see him fit in.”
Russell Wilson Will Lose Ciara If He Loses to The Vikings
The “fitting in” part is the biggest cause for concern, as Lynch is no longer the centerpiece of Seattle’s offense. That is now QB Russell Wilson, who ended the year with 21 touchdowns and one pick in the team’s final six games. Lynch was famously salty about not getting the ball on the one-yard line in the Super Bowl last season, and may not like being a secondary option moving forward. Only time will tell if he can mesh.
On the other hand, Lynch may not be option No. 2 this week. The weather forecast calls for zero-degree temperature, with wind chill making it feel like it’s 15 degrees below zero. That will make it harder to air the ball out, and it’s perfect for Lynch’s bruising style. Better yet, the team expects him to carry the type of workload that made him arguably the NFL’s best running back the past few seasons.
Russell Wilson Prepping To Be A Dad
"If he’s going, that’s what I would expect. I’d expect him to be full go, full speed and just do like we normally do,” offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said. Lynch will be a true asset Sunday, and if he’s right, will make Seattle nearly impossible to defend in the red zone.
