The Knicks may want to start building on their guard line after focusing a lot on their frontcourt.

As things stand now, the Knicks have a formidable front with Carmelo Anthony, Robin Lopez and rookie Kristaps Porzingis. But in basketball, you also have to address the backcourt as well.

Jose Calderon is the lone veteran trying his best to live up to the challenge, but somehow that has not really worked to the advantage of the Knicks. Calderon lacks something, a drive and dish game that should help spread the floor more and get the forward line more opportunities.

But other than Calderon, the Knicks don’t really have guards who may handle the pressure as pointed out by NBC Sports. They have Jerian Grant and Langston Galloway but if the Knicks want better results, getting veteran guard could be in the cards.

Jeremy Lin Happily Ignored During Kobe Bryant's Final Game In Charlotte

Brandon Jennings has been long rumored as a possible target, though the Knicks are holding back to see if the 10th overall draft pick by the Bucks in the 2009 NBA Draft has recovered fully from injury per Fox Sports.

Jennings has been out of action the last 11 months after rupturing his Achilles so the Knicks are in observation mode to see if he still carries the spunk that he originally had.

Jennings could be a key acquisition if he turns out as fully recovered. That plus the fact that he has been misplaced in the Pistons’ rotation makes him a wise player to go for.

But for the Knicks to get him, it may take more than just Calderon. It could require multiple players as well or some future draft picks. And before finalizing that, there is also the case that Jennings is set to be a free agent in the Summer.

Unless he commits to the Knicks long-term, it could be a gamble lost.

Jennings is a guy who can score and create. He could be the one the Knicks have been looking for. But before looking that far, Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher need to come up with a final resolution on whether this is the guy that can beef up the backcourt or not.
