Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham and Panthers cornerback Josh Norman were locked in a heated battle for the duration of Sunday’s game, but in the third quarter Beckham took the war too far. He threw what appeared to be a punch as he raced past Norman, and then wheeled around and ran into him helmet-first with a running start.

Norman was hit hard on the jaw, but not injured. He retaliated by shoving Beckham to the turf, and both were flagged for personal fouls. Beckham took three personal foul penalties, the first time a player received that many since 2011. Both are expected to be fined, but because Beckham flagrantly targeted Norman’s head, there is speculation he will be forced out of the Giants’ Week 16 tilt vs. the Vikings.

Norman was very upset with Beckahm following the game, and called for swift, tough discipline.

"I hope the league office gets a chance to review the film and see what they can do, because players like that don't deserve to be in the game,'' Norman said to ESPN. "I mean, it's ridiculous."

Beckham was mostly mum about his meltdown, but insinuated he may have been justified because he was retaliating against Norman’s actions.

"You never want to hurt your team like that, and I have learned throughout my life, always, second man gets caught," Beckham said. "It is just unfortunate."

He’s likely about to learn that second man gets suspended.
