The Cavaliers are hardly the team that should complain right now seeing that they are at the top of the NBA Eastern Conference with a 17-7 record.

Though they are only half a game ahead of the Pacers, the Cavs are far from content and apparently this stems from the fact that they are keeping close watch of their Western Conference rivals and their respective records.

The Warriors are currently 26-1, while the Spurs are not far behind with a 23-5 mark. If the Cavs were in that conference, they would probably be at third place behind the Warriors and the Spurs.

Now that doesn’t seem too bad, but considering it's a team composed of LeBron James and Kevin Love, the expectations are somehow off.

Comparing both conferences, there is no question that the Western Conference is a lot more competitive, so the Cavs feel that there is something missing. Could it be Kyrie Irving?

Irving has yet to play this season, so Cleveland is surviving without their regular All-Star guard. But “Uncle Drew” is expected to return any time soon, though he will be on restricted minutes. Irving tweeted Saturday that he's back, which means he could suit up when the Cavaliers play the 76ers on Sunday.

Just the same, could his return boost the Cavs’ performance? Well according to Bleacher Report, an Irving return should address the shortage in firepower, which could help the Cavs keep in step with the Warriors and the Spurs.

It remains to be seen if that would be the case, though his return is not expected to make an immediate impact. But if one looks long-term, the earlier Irving returns and gets his feet wet, the more it will work to the advantage of the Cavs as they reach the postseason.

Irving was speculated to return last Thursday, but he himself doused all rumors tied up to that. One thing is certain, Irving can't wait to come back.

"I've kind of been itching the last few weeks," Irving said via WKYC, "but finally getting my trainer's clearance, as well as our organization to go out there and practice with the guys, have five-on-five, going up and down, being able to hit guys a little bit and guys hit me, as a competitor, I've been itching for that."
