With Kobe Bryant set to finally call it quits after the current season, his farewell tour has already started as NBA teams try to fete him with the respect he deserves even though he has asked them not to.

Apparently Bryant finds these ceremonies detrimental to the games, though it seems that most (if not all) could care less. For someone who has brought a lot to the NBA, the ceremonies and recognition are their way of recognizing one of the NBA greats before he hangs up his sneaker for good.

Considering Kobe’s request not to be given special treatment, would that include the annual NBA All-Star Game?

Though Kobe has been far from putting up a performance worthy of being part of the annual NBA festivities, there is a chance the he may just be voted in by fans regardless of what the stat sheets say.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver, who spoke with SiriusXM NBA Radio recently, is one in vouching for Bryant to be at the mid-season game. He believes that the retiring Lakers player deserves a proper send-off which happens this coming February in Toronto.

If it occurs, it would mark Bryant's 18th NBA All-Star appearance. There is a pretty high chance that the five-time NBA champion will be voted in, considering that this will be his last year in the NBA.

With voting scheduled to start by Jan. 19, it will be interesting to see if Bryant ends up among the top vote-getters for the annual mid-season NBA exhibition.

In the event that he doesn’t, it looks like Silver is prepared as well.

"We'll see what the fans and the coaches decide, and then we'll go from there," Silver said via the LA Times.

Either way, one thing seems to be certain; Bryant will be at the NBA All-Star Game either officially or through honorable means.
