TNT took a chance Thursday night, giving the floor to controversial analyst Charles Barkley on a number of political issues ahead of the upcoming Republican debate next Tuesday. Barkley did make some controversy, but it regarded CNN, which is under the same umbrella as TNT.
“CNN has done an awful job this election, an awful job. They have followed ratings and soundbites this entire cycle,” Barkley told Ernie Johnson. “I love CNN because they’re part of our company, but they’ve been kissing butt, chasing ratings. They’ve become like Fox News.”

Barkley also sounded off on supporters of Donald Trump, calling them losers whose lives are bad because of their own doing.
“It’s sad to insult people, but then you’ve got these losers who love them because they’re afraid to look in the mirror and say why their life sucks, so they have to blame other people.”
Barkley Boldly Predicts Knicks Will Make The Playoffs
Barkley’s political musings were very entertaining, and it was equally funny to watch Kenny “The Jet” Smith stumble over himself in asking questions about politics that were well outside his comfort zone. In all, the segment seemed very out of place, with only Johnson and Barkley approaching comfortable. The winner, however, was Shaquille O’Neal, who was mostly silent for the duration.
At the very end, after Barkley had given a passionate opinion about the “economic divide” in America being more important than the “racial divide,” Shaq chimed in.
“Very good Governernor Charles Barkley. I just want to say your makeup and eyebrowns are on fleek tonight,” Shaq said.
Barkley responded that Shaq was just a “hater on the moneymaker,” but it was a pretty weak response. Great job by Shaq keeping it light, and please TNT, don’t do this again.
