The Vikings’ new stadium has come a long way since the Metrodome’s roof collapsed. EarthCam showed the world just how far US Bank Stadium has come since the beginning of construction with an awesome time lapse video you can check out below.

The Vikings, tied for first place in the NFC North division, are on the upswing, so the timing is just right for a gleaming new stadium. And judging from Minnesota’s play, they are ready for the new digs to open up as well. The Vikings have a 4-2 record at TCF Bank Stadium, the current home of the Minnesota Gophers, but that has more to do with their level of opposition than any home field advantage.

They began the year 4-0 at home vs. the Lions, Chargers, Chiefs and Rams, but have been beaten soundly in their last two home games, against the Packers and Seahawks. Seattle in particular smashed them 38-7, proving that their opponents aren’t daunted by playing outdoors in the famously cold Minnesota winter.

The stats tell the story. Minnesota’s defense allows 5.1 yards per carry at home as opposed to 3.8 on the road, and their offense worsens both on the ground and through the air. Minnesota rushes for four yards per carry at TCF Stadium, and 5.4 away from home. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater gains seven percentage points on his completion rate away from TCF, and he’s thrown for two more touchdowns, and two fewer picks.
