The only thing worse than the boredom that was the Monday night game between the Cowboys and Redskins this week was what happened in the aftermath of it all.

A fight broke out between fans of both teams at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., leading to a Cowboys fan in a Jason Witten jersey reportedly getting stabbed. After the Cowboys (4-8) toppled the Redskins (5-7), 19-16, things got ugly in the concourse between supporters of both teams.

A video posted on Facebook shows the aftermath of a melee between Cowboys and Redskins fans, with a Cowboys supporter being helped by a Redskins fan after allegedly getting stabbed. A knife was eventually recovered in the concourse, according to Fox 5 DC.

"Wowwwww. This place is a war zone right now," the video's uploader, Mike Vaughn wrote on his Facebook page. "Fights breaking out everywhere. One dude got stabbed."

The Redskins released a statement saying they are aware of what happened, but their biggest concern should be exactly how a knife was brought into the stadium without security noticing.

"We are aware of an altercation that took place at FedEx Field following Monday's game." Washington said in a statement issued to Fox 5 DC. "We thank members of the Prince George's County Police Department who responded promptly to break up the altercation and arrested both men involved. Neither sustained injuries that required hospitalization. We will continue to gather more information on the matter and ensure the safety of all fans at FedEx Field."

The team better ensure safety as in a day in age where ISIS is constantly making threats, a weapon making it into a stadium just days removed from a shooting tragedy that took the lives of 14 innocent people in San Bernardino, Calif. is just unacceptable.

Sporting events turning into battlegrounds isn't uncommon, it seems every week there is at least one fight at a stadium during the NFL season. Drastic security measures need to be taken to make sure that weapons aren't added into the mix like they were Monday night at FedEx Field.

Now more than ever, security needs to be tighter in stadiums. What happened Monday night is simply unacceptable.
