The Hasselbeck family dinner for Thanksgiving might have been a little tense this year. Tim Hasselbeck, an ex-NFL quarterback and current fantasy football analyst for ESPN publicly doubted his brother Matt’s ability to lead the Colts for an extended period of time after Andrew Luck went down. A few weeks later, Matt should be shoving his success in Tim’s face.

"They have a 40-year-old backup that maybe has to play for six weeks, get you all the way to Week 16 of the NFL season before you potentially get Andrew Luck back," Tim said when Luck’s injury was announced.

Jim Harbaugh, Andrew Luck Reunion Is Possible

"I know my brother played well in the two games he started this season, but I think anyone can attest ... it's one thing when it's a shorter injury and you have a backup that's going to play one week, two weeks, three weeks maybe. We're in a situation where they have a 40-year-old quarterback that's potentially going to play half of their football games this year. Half of them!”

So far, the Colts have to be happy they have Matt Hasselbeck. The 40-year-old pro has thrown seven touchdowns and only two picks in four starts, going 4-0 as the Colts quarterback. Indianapolis hasn’t shrunk its playbook to accommodate him either; against the Buccaneers on Sunday Hasselbeck chucked it 42 times, piling up 312 yards and two touchdowns. Hasselbeck has completed at least 61 percent of his passes in every start, and has yet to be held to fewer than 213 yards.

Colts Expected To Push For Nick Saban This Offseason

Tim played four NFL seasons for four teams, and finished his career with a 1-4 record. Matt is in his 17th season, and is 12 games over .500 for his career (84-72). Perhaps Tim doesn’t know quite as much about football as big bro.
