Despite pleading no contest and avoiding jail time, there are those who will still consider Adrian Peterson the "Most Violent Parent" before they'll consider him the NFL MVP.

The Vikings RB has been next to unstoppable this season. Through nine games, Peterson boasts for 961 rushing yards, four more than he had at this point in 2012. In case you needed a reminder, he finished that year with 2,097 yards and one NFL MVP.

Why Tom Brady Isn't The Real NFL MVP

Looking at the latest MVP odds, however, voters clearly needed that reminder.

Despite Peterson’s staggering production, four QBs remain ahead of him. Admittedly, undefeated records have bolstered the resumes of Tom Brady and Cam Newton, but not even Aaron Rodgers’ recent struggles were enough to give Peterson the edge.

Aaron Rodgers Being Asked To Do More With Less

It’s not as if his Vikings are 7-2 and lead the Packers in the NFC North.

Then again, the lack of respect for Peterson’s MVP campaign shouldn’t come as a surprise. Some people just won't forgive the past.

It’s the harsh reality that’s plagued Greg Hardy’s season, except Peterson won’t have to deal with the vitriol from stands.

His punishment will come where it hurts most: the MVP race.
