Hakeem Nicks, the wide receiver for the New York Giants might be ruled out for the game against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday. Nicks is suffering from a knee injury.

Tom Coughlin, the Giants coach informed that Nicks had developed a swelling in his left knee on Thursday during a workout session. His chances of playing the Eagles are pretty slim. Nicks sustained an injury to his knee in the game against Tampa Bay.

Other players who've been ruled out against Philadelphia are David Diehl who sustained a knee injury as well, Keith Rivers and Jayron Hosley, both of whom have injuries to their hamstrings.

The availability of Antrel Rolle too is doubtful for the game against the Eagles. He has soreness of knee and missed the practice session Thursday. He injured his knee in the game against the Panthers.

In Nicks' absence the Giants might consider starting with either Domenik Hixon or Ramses Barden.

The Associated Press quoted Eli Manning as saying: "Whatever the circumstances are we will figure it out."

The injury-ridden team is ready for back ups these days. It hasn't impacted the team's performance significantly. Barden and Andre Brown have already proven it in their previous games.

Hixon said: "We've done it every year from way back when. I was talking about that with a couple of guys from other teams. Our coaches coach everyone up, because you never know what may happen. So everyone is coached up and ready to play."

The biggest problem for the New York Giants, however, is at cornerback.

Prince Amukamara is expected to start for Hosley. This will be his first career start. He said: "There's still a little discomfort, a little pain, but it's not really affecting my game. It gets sore a couple of times, but as I'm running, it's warmed up. It feels good as new."

Corey Webster has injured his right hand but will be playing against the Eagles Sunday.

"You would like to have both hands," Webster said. "Whatever I can do to help my team I am going to be out there helping."

With Hosley out, Michael Coe's participation is Sunday's is certain as well.

"I am a competitor and I feel everyone puts pressure on himself to play," he said. "It's a big game, a divisional game, especially to jump out to a lead in our division. And I definitely want to play against a great quarterback and great receivers in our division."
