For a couple weeks now, rumors have been swirling that Neymar, arguably one of the top three (if not top two) footballers in the world, could be leaving Barcelona for another club. And now those rumors have gained some weight as Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly putting together a record-breaking release clause bid to snatch the 23-year-old forward out of Spain.
Though Neymar is still in the middle of a five-year deal that expires in 2018, PSG is ready to go all out an pony up the €190 million ($204 million USD) to trigger Neymar's release clause, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish soccer website, along with a number of other European papers, reports PSG may want to jump in before Barcelona tries to lock Neymar up for a more expensive contract extension through 2020. But, if PSG can put together the cash for Neymar's massive €190 million release clause, Barcelona would have to let Neymar walk.
However, it's possible this is all just smoke and mirrors, EuroSport notes. In fact, this might just be a ploy to disrupt the player and club, effectively forcing Barca's hand into making a decision to re-sign Neymar right away for a huge number, or let him walk and sign onto whatever contract PSG is willing to offer.

But, even if it is all rumors at this point, Neymar might be ready to leave Barca anyways. Neymar has previously expressed interest in getting out of teammate Lionel Messi's shadow and having the opportunity to win his own Ballon d'Or, reports Spanish soccer news site Don Balon.
Neymar joined Barcelona after the club paid a €58 million ($62 million USD) transfer fee to Santos FC in 2013 and signed him to a €57 million ($61 million USD), five-year contract, according to BBC.
