Aside from his rookie teammate shooting guard, R.J. Hunter, the 20-year-old James Young had been named inactive for the team's match against Philadelphia 76ers, as per Mass Live. In his interview with the publication, Young said that being inactive motivated him to keep working out and keep getting better every day.

For Young, he viewed himself to be a lot better than last year and he would just keep working.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens told Mass Live that Young was in a state where they had their five guys that were possibly going to play a lot of time at the 1, 2, and 3. The coach also said that they had power forward/small forward Jonas Jerebko and point guard Terry Rozier, along with power forward Jordan Mickey available, since Kelly Olynyk was out due to a one-game suspension from the playoffs last season.

Stevens hoped that Hunter got better. The coach said that they walked and the shooting guard was getting a bit better, though he still had IVs to take. Stevens explained that he preferred Rozier and Mickey due to their versality and speed and a good preseason record, respectively.

The Celtics managed to get the victory in its match against the 76ers at the TD Garden earlier. According to Comcast Sportsnet, the team struggled during the first half of the match-up, but was able to keep the ball with the assistance from Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas and Celtics power forward Amir Johnson.
