The Lions are still committed to Matthew Stafford, but only as long as he’ll allow them to.
The former No. 1-overall pick was benched in Sunday’s 42-17 undressing. Entering Week 6, his eight INTs lead the league. They just won’t be enough to keep him out of the starting lineup on Sunday.
Stafford's Benching Opens Door For Tebow In Detroit
"Obviously, it's one game, you know? One game,” head coach Jim Caldwell said, per Mlive.com. “And I think he's certainly more than capable of straightening those things out.
“He's still our starting quarterback, but I'm just certainly not interested in watching those kinds of performances consistently."
The Lions Can't Score Even If You Helped Them
No one would want to witness their QB go 20-of-32 for 188 yards and three INTs, but it’s not like there are better options out there.
Just ask the Bears.
I understand taking Stafford out but it's still his job. Orlavsky is not a better option than Stafford. Some fans are clueless

The call for Jay Cutler’s head grew louder after Week 1’s 31-23 loss to the Packers. Then Jimmy Clausen stepped in.
The Bears were subsequently outscored 74-23. Clausen couldn’t manage a TD.
That fate awaits the Lions, should they turn to Dan Orlovsky in the near future.
At 0-5, the Detroit’s season is likely over. The best the franchise can do is see out the season, see out Stafford’s performance and assess it for 2016. A better option will only be available come draft time, not Week 6.
