Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET the Bills will begin their preseason slate at home against the Panthers in preseason action that can be live streamed for free by clicking this link. Bills fans can listen to the action on WGR 550, while Panthers fans may do the same on WBT 1110.

The Bills will be trotting out three quarterbacks tonight in what is one of the most competitive position battles of the NFL preseason. Matt Cassel will get the nod, which is surprising because he spent much of OTAs fending off rumors he would be the one on Rex Ryan's chopping block.

Matt Cassel Projected To Be A Roster Casualty

Cassel is competing with EJ Manuel, a 2013 first-round pick who has disappointed on a short leash, and Tyrod Taylor, a 2011 sixth-rounder with virtually no NFL experience. Manuel was considered the leader of the pack for the position entering training camp, but he's been dropped to third on the depth chart, per ESPN's Mike Rodak.

Ryan was clear that this remains a competition though, and said all the potential quarterbacks will get opportunities to prove themselves.

Tyrod Taylor Has A Real Chance To Start Week 1

"I think we're gonna look at it over at least a two-game stretch, so I think that'll be where they're more balanced, probably," Ryan said. "But each guy will get a shot."

Judging by the snaps though, Manuel is clearly "lagging" according to ABC Buffalo's Joe Buscaglia. He wrote "It would be fair to conclude that the day's snap count reflect how well each man has done so far."
