The Biggest Party of the Summer may not be as much fun as previously thought with the latest news that Sting will not appear at the show after all.

WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens Team Up

There was a lot of speculation that The Vigilante would return to the ring at SummerSlam on Aug. 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but now the rumors are that he may not even appear at the event at all.

According to PWInsider, the WWE isn't planning on using Sting at its second biggest show of the year, which will be considered as a major disappointment to a lot of fans after hearing the rumors.

There were reports that Sting would be a late addition to the feud that former Shield stablemates Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose are engaged in with The Wyatt Family.

The speculation was that Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper would adopt a new third member, possibly Adam Rose in a gimmick change, due to the fact that Erick Rowan is sidelined for the rest of the year with a legitimate injury.

The supposed storyline would have had the three Wyatt Family members out-number Reigns and Ambrose only for Sting to come out and even the sides, leading to a six-man tag team match in Brooklyn.

Per the report, there were also rumors that Sting would team with Green Arrow actor Steven Amell in a tag team match against Stardust and another Superstar, likely The Miz.

Stardust and Amell have been feuding on social media in recent months and the idea would have seen the actor team up with Sting as a pair of "vigilantes" taking down two heels in the WWE in a tag team match.

The speculation intensified when the WWE announced Sting for a signing on the Saturday before the event in New York City, but it seems the company has no plans to use him on the actual SummerSlam broadcast.

Things could change, but for now it seems the WrestleMania 31 loss to Triple H in March is the only impression that Sting will get to make in a WWE ring.
