The first day of the 2015 Travelers Championship to a close on Thursday, with Bubba Watson taking a comfortable two-stroke lead.

Jason Gore, Keegan Bradley and three others are tied for second, while Tom Gillis, Zach Johnson, Robert Garrigus and Will MacKenzie round out the top 10. Below is a recap of the first day's events (via PGA Tour).

What They're Saying

Ernie Els: "I need some points from the FedEx deal, so it made sense to play a tournament on the U.S. tour than the European Tour because I need more points here."

Luke Donald: "Obviously, you always want to play majors, and St. Andrews is a special place, I played in 2000, '05, and '10 there. It's the course I've played the most out of all the Open rotations. I would love to be there. I'm not thinking about it when I'm on the golf course, but hopefully some good stuff will happen. The game certainly feels like it's coming into shape."

Bubba Watson: "Coming off a U.S. Open, every golf course we play is going to feel easier. So coming off that golf course, it doesn't matter what you shoot. It's hard to make birdies around there. Around here you can make birdies. You have perfect greens."
