CM Punk has said he will "never" return to the WWE again, but there was a rumor going around that current Superstar Brad Maddox parodied the Best in the World at a WWE live event over the weekend in Las Vegas.

Photos from Twitter show Maddox entering the arena in similar tights to Punk and wearing a hoodie prior to his loss against Jack Swagger at the event.

There were also reports that Maddox cut a "pipebomb" promo, which is something Punk initially got over.

CM Punk's UFC Debut Likely Pushed Back To 2016

While some fans believed Maddox was doing a Punk parody, Wrestlingheadlines.com has accounts from fans in attendance that have refuted the claim.

"I believe what got people started on the CM Punk, Brad Maddox thing was when he first came out to cut a promo some people thought he was CM Punk just by how he looked, I think a big group of teenagers tried to get the Punk chant going but it was short lived if that, a fan named Scott Fisher told Wrestlingheadlines.com. "Maddox did cut a "pipebomb" promo but it fell flat and everyone just wanted him out of the ring."

Added another person that was in attendance: "Maddox did not come out with CM Punk's theme song, that was a rumor started on Twitter because people in my section near the stage thought it was Punk when he first came out for the pre-match speech about people forgetting who he was. Maddox seemed like he tweaked his in ring style some with more kicks and MMA style but he stalled some too, Swagger carried the match easily. No CM Punk theme song but the look had some people fooled, not all of us."

The WWE has shied away from talking about Punk since he walked out on the promotion in January 2014, aside from a few rare occasions, which includes Paul Heyman coming out to his music on an episode of Monday Night RAW from Punk's hometown of Chicago.

The former WWE Champion has blasted the company in the wake of leaving and he said he won't be returning to wrestling. Punk then signed with UFC in December and the details surrounding his first fight are yet to be determined.

Punk has been training out of Roufusport in Milwaukee for his first foray into the Octagon, but he recently said his debut fight may get pushed back to 2016.

While there were reports that Maddox may have parodied Punk, it would have been a weird move for the WWE since it doesn't usually recognize the former disgruntled Superstar and to do it at a live event in Las Vegas would seem like an odd venue to facilitate such a move.
