The first day of the 2015 Memorial Tournament came to a close on Thursday, with Bo Van Pelt and Hideki Matsuyama sharing the lead.

Jason Dufner and Russell Knox sit comfortably in second, with Ken Duke and five others rounding out the top 10. Below is a recap of the first day's events (via PGA Tour).

What They're Saying

Tiger Woods: "I didn't play very good today at all. Unfortunately, I can hit it either way because of this move we're working on. But it's so much more flush, and so much more solid and a lot easier on my body. I was going to go through this phase and stick with it. And some of the shots I hit were really, really good, but then I also had some really bad shots too. And we need to work on that too, and omit the bad ones."

Jordan Spieth: "[I was] just kind of compounding bad breaks, which led to six shots on that hole, where really it should be four. Kind of a tough finish to swallow after such a great round of golf."

Hideki Matsuyama: "To be honest with you, when I made the turn at 4 under, I was just trying to hold onto 4 under. And then to make a couple more birdies, it was a real bonus."
