ESPN and Bill Simmons had a falling out during his recent round of contract negotiations, and the two sides were unable to reach an agreement. This has led ESPN to announce that Simmons will no longer be with the company.

Simmons is arguably ESPN's most popular writer, and many are now wondering where he will go. They are also wondering about the fate of his website, Grantland. The future of Grantland is still up in the air, but, at least for now, it has a new editor-in-chief, according to ESPN.

A press release issued by ESPN read, "Chris Connelly, the award-winning reporter and essayist whose work includes contributions to E:60, Outside The Lines, ABC News, Grantland and many other programs and publications, has been named Interim Editor-in-Chief of Grantland."

"Chris has been an award-winning journalist and storyteller in sports, music and pop culture for over three decades, and as a longtime contributor at Grantland, he appreciates the incredible team we have assembled."

Connelly added, "Bill Simmons had the vision to create Grantland, and his leadership, ideas, and inspiration made it singularly great. I'm looking forward to helping the writers, editors, and producers on this amazingly talented staff create more of the outstanding work for which they've rightly become known."
