As the season continues to draw nearer, it appears increasingly likely that Adrian Peterson will not, in fact, have his wish granted. He has made it known that he wants to play for another team, preferably Dallas. The Vikings have maintained that they will not trade Peterson, but the running back is not giving up so easily.

According to FanSided, Peterson is even willing to put his money where his mouth is when it comes to his trade desire. Peterson can hold out in an attempt to force a trade (or possibly even a contract renegotiation, which may make his salary cap hit low enough that other teams are more willing to deal for him), but it will cost him.

Players are always forfeiting some salary by holding out, but unless they miss actual games, the lost dough generally comes in the form of fines that teams impose for absences. But Peterson has a clause in his contract that could cost him a quarter-million for missed time.

Peyton Manning Hoping Tom Brady Would Get Suspended?

If Peterson really wants a trade, then he would likely plan to skip Minnesota's OTAs, which are not mandatory for most players anyhow. But Peterson has a $250,000 workout bonus in his contract that he only receives if he attends 90 percent of team OTA sessions. If Peterson misses more than one session, he forfeits that bonus.

And that is in addition to the fines that he could face for skipping the team's minicamp and training camp.

A trade still looks unlikely, but pretty soon, fans will find out exactly what it's worth to Peterson to make his point.
