Atlanta took Game 5 after Nets point guard Deron Williams crash landed back on Earth with a five-point, six-assist performance in which he shot 2-of-8 from the field. Williams was invisible in 32 minutes of play, and the Nets needed Jarrett Jack to be their driving offensive force in the fourth quarter.

Jack scored 12 straight points late in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to overcome Atlanta's sweet shooting. With a reserve like Jack proving to be an essential element of their offense, Atlanta should have expected to roll over Brooklyn more quickly, but Hawks F/C Al Horford said they never took the Nets lightly.

"You never underestimate any team," Horford said. "There's some adversity we're facing, and they're playing really good basketball. They're very confident. We just have to be able to handle that and come out and play better. They're pushing us, we're pushing them, and I feel like it's going to make us better in the end."

Atlanta is without guard Thabo Sefolosha, who was one of their top perimeter defenders, and both Horford and forward Paul Millsap are playing through injuries.

Williams' play may be most important of any player on the floor, but he deflected attention away from himself, and steered his comments to be about the entire team.

"We've just got to come out and play better," Williams said. "We've got to get back to playing our basketball, moving the ball, sharing the ball, making extra passes, playing for each other."
