Hey, they say laughter is sometimes the best medicine.
Who "they" actually are is largely uncertain, but Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brandon McCarthy seems to be taking their advice. He just went under the knife for Tommy John surgery, a devastating development for any pro pitcher (though it's not the career death sentence it once was, it still requires a long hiatus and rehab schedule).

So much for that $48 million dollar the investment the Dodgers made in him.
Regardless, McCarthy adopted a jovial tone of voice when it came to his post-surgery outlook.

McCarthy tweeted about his Tommy John surgery earlier in the week as well:

McCarthy is 55-65 with a 4.13 ERA in his nine-years in the majors. One of the league's most recognizable journeymen, he's taken the mound for the Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Oakland A's, New York Yankees, and now the Dodgers.
