If you checked ESPN, NFL.com, CBS, or a host of other mock experts in the run-up to tonight’s NFL Draft, LSU offensive lineman La’El Collins would’ve been perceived as a lock for the first round. Not anymore.
This week it was reported that Collins is a person of interest in the murder of his ex-girlfriend. Not a suspect, but a person of interest. Authorities are currently interviewing Collins. Moreover, the young lady was pregnant at the time.
Obviously, this unfortunate circumstances raises eyebrows amongst front offices that would previously be excited to take Collins. As a result, he’s plummeted down the draft boards of most teams, if not off of them entirely. Even if Collins is proclaimed innocent in the situation, that news will likely come after the three day draft has finished.
The recent murder-one conviction of former New England Patriots’ tight end Aaron Hernandez no doubt weighs on the mind of some executives as well.
Mayock says after talking to teams, La’el Collins is completely off many boards unless cleared officially.

3. Four different teams' execs told me that La'el Collins -- unfairly or not-- is 'undraftable' until he's fully exonerated from incident. — Peter Schrager (@PSchrags) April 30, 2015
