Night and day.

That was the term that Cleveland Browns lineman Joe Thomas used to described the contrast between the Johnny Manziel he sees this off-season, and the one he saw during the latter’s rookie year in 2014.

“Towards the end of the season, even when he wasn’t there, obviously, missing meetings and practice and things like that, it’s just little things, and when you’re a quarterback it’s the little things that are the most important,” Thomas said, via the Akron Beacon Journal.

“I think those were the things that were apparent by the end of the year, and I think he saw them in himself based on the things that he said right after the season and the steps and the actions that he took in January, February and March. To see the guy in the building right now is night and day from where he was last year in his commitment, and I think he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Manziel, as you may recall, experience a disastrous first season in Cleveland. He only started two games, and had two interceptions against zero touchdowns. He entered rehab in February to combat problems with alcohol abuse and partying. He was released from treatment after ten weeks.

Just because Manziel struggled mightily as a rookie, doesn’t mean that his career is over. Here are three famous QBs you might recognize, along with each of their stat lines in their debut seasons. Each of them turned out just fine.

Troy Aikman

Steve Young

Peyton Manning
16 games, 326-575, 3739 yards, 26 TDs, 28 Ints
