Who knew that Eugenie Bouchard would be a pioneer in handshake? Perhaps the fad is just becoming popular in Romania.

Bouchard caused a stir when she refused to shake hands with Alexandra Dulgheru before Canada's Fed Cup tie against Romania in Canada just more than a week ago.

To be fair to Bouchard, she has long maintained that she doesn't believe in wishing an opponent good luck before a match and doesn't want to come off as phony by obliging.

After Dulgheru defeated Bouchard during their match, the Romanian gained a bit of revenge for the snub by running to her Romanian teammates and doing the handshake snub with them. To Bouchard's credit, she witnessed Dulgheru's celebration but waited at the net to shake hands, although the shake was noted for its brevity.

On Friday, the ATP decided to try out Bouchard's signature snub, but this came after the match. Ironically, it also happened in Romania.

Guillermo Garcia Lopez defeated Lukas Rosol 6-4, 7-6 (7) in the quarterfinals of the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy in Bucharest, Romania on Friday, according to tennis.com. The match wouldn't have gained much attention until the men approached the net after the match.

Rosol approached the net and extended his hand to Garcia Lopez, who initially walked off the court without turning to shake hands. Garcia Lopez either decided he should shake hands with Rosol or was just deep in thought and suddenly realized he didn't shake hands with the Czech player.

But when Garcia Lopez finally turned to extend his hand, Rosol brushed him away quickly. Garcia Lopez didn't seem to mind, giving the impression that he wasn't going to shake in the first place. The encounter didn't seem to affect Garcia Lopez, who went on to win the title.
