New York jumped out to a 3-1 lead in Game 2, but Washington roared back with three unanswered goals to take the game.

Ryan Strome notched his second goal of the series in Game 2 while Cal Clutterbuck and Kyle Okposo also found the twine for the Islanders.

As for the Capitals, Karl Alzner lit the lamp for them and then Alex Ovechkin, Niklas Backstrom (power play) and Jason Chimera scored in succession to take control of the game.

The Islanders are hoping for a lenghty spring in what will be their last Stanley Cup playoffs contested at the Nassau Coliseum as the team is moving to Brooklyn for the 2015-16 NHL season.

The Capitals are hoping to spoil the Islanders plans and have a deep run after struggling to get out of the first round in recent years.

In between the pipes, Braden Holtby (illness) is a game time decision for Washington. Philipp Grubauer filled in for Holtby in Game 2 and stopped 18 of the 21 shots he faced.

Jaroslav Halak will return in the crease for New York after turning aside 31 shots and yielding four goals on Saturday.

Each team looks to take a 2-1 series edge when the puck drops on Game 3 between the Capitals and Islanders live today from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island.
