The Penguins will look to play more disciplined after taking five penalties in the first game. The Rangers were able to capitalize just once as Ryan McDonagh scored on the man-advantage in the first period to give New York a 2-0 lead.

"You have to know to take a hit, a punch, or a hit with the stick at times because we know what the referees will call," Penguins coach Mike Johnston said per NHL.com. "Key players couldn't get on the ice, so that was a key factor. Our game started to come as we played them 5-on-5. We need more of that in Game 2."

Blake Comeau found the twine for Pittsburgh in the second frame, but the team couldn't catch up to New York and the Rangers managed to hang on for a 1-0 series lead.

New York was solid defensively and was able to keep stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin off of the score sheet.

Rick Nash, who dealt with the flu on Tuesday, picked up a helper in the Rangers' win.

In between the pipes, New York turns to Henrik Lundqvist, who faced 25 shots and turned aside 24 of them.

"You start with one and you try to feel good about yourself and your performance and when you win you definitely feel a lot better," Lundqvist told NHL.com. "But it's just one game."

Marc-Andre Fleury was solid in the crease, bouncing back from the early goal to stop 36 of 38 shots he faced.
