The Stars of Pakistan travel to Dhaka this weekend to square off against the host nation Tigers of Bangladesh for the first of three ODI matches in Dhaka on Saturday.

Both teams are coming off admirable performances from this year's Cricket World Cup in their rearview mirror. The Pakistanis rebounded from an 0-2 start in group play to make the quarterfinals (a usual occurrence for them). Bangladesh also made it into the quarters, for the first time in their history.

Besides general bragging rights and the reality of competition, the entity most readily at stake here in this series is Pakistan's international ranking. Should they be swept at Bangladesh's hands, they will drop below the West Indies into 8th in the world standings. They'll obviously try to avoid that fate from the first bowl.
