Johnny Manziel Philadelphia Eagles: Chip Kelly Trying To Use Manziel As Trade Piece To Move Up For Marcus Mariota? [VIDEO]

The love that Chip Kelly has for Marcus Mariota is no secret in football circles. The Eagles coach recruited Mariota back when he was running the University of Oregon’s football program, and speculation persists that Kelly will try and move Philadelphia up in this month’s draft in order to draft the Heisman sensation.

Johnny Manziel Needs To Rebuild ‘Trust’ With Browns Teammates

However, in order to do that the Eagles are going to need to acquire a few more draft picks to package in any deal that could move them up into the top five of the draft.

According to Chat Sports, Philly is considering offering the Cleveland Browns their starting quarterback Sam Bradford. In return, they would take on Johnny Manziel and picks.

Sources tell Chat Sports that “both sides are very motivated to get a deal done, with each side valuing the other’s QB more than the QB currently on their rosters.”

Johnny Football Becomes Johnny Golf For A Day

If the trade were to go through, it would be a final punctuation to Manziel’s abrupt and steep fall from grace. The Browns took Johnny Football 22nd overall just a year ago, and expected him to be their quarterback of the future.

However, Manziel proved himself wildly immature for the NFL. He missed practices and failed to grasp the playbook due to a lack of focus and constant off-field partying. He had zero touchdowns in his two starts.

An unconventional offensive guru like Chip Kelly is probably the guy Manziel would want to revitalize his NFL career, but Philly isn’t trying to acquire him to be their starter. They already have a competent back-up in Mark Sanchez and, should they get their hands on Mariota as well, Manziel would be looking at a long season as the third stringer.
