Domestic violence isn't just a problem for football players in the NFL's ranks.

Alabama defensive tackle Jonathan Taylor was taken into custoday on Saturday for third-degree assault and criminal mischief, stemming from his role in a domestic violence incident.

The Best and the Worst of the College Gridiron Season

According to ESPN, Tuscaloosa officers responded to a call off-campus around 6 p.m. After speaking to the victim following the violent episode, they tracked down Taylor and found probable cause to make the arrest.

The police report stated that the victim, a 24-year-old woman, sustained injuries to her neck from the assault. The report also indicates that there was a hole punched into the closet door in the couple's bedroom.

This isn't Taylor's first run-in with the law during his college football career. He originally played for the Georgia Bulldogs, but was kicked off that team after being arrested for aggravated assault, a felony. That episode also involved a girlfriend, as Taylor was accused of punching and choking the victim in an Athens dorm room.

He came aboard Nick Saban's Alabama squad in January.

Taylor was held on $1,000 bond and kept in custody for 12 hours -- a mandatory step in any domestic violence arrest.
