If the Miami Dolphins' signing of free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is a formality, someone forgot to tell the Oakland Raiders, who could have their own lure.

NFL.com is reporting that Suh will visit the Raiders next week, according to a source with knowledge of Oakland's plans.

Ndamukong Suh to the Miami Dolphins a done deal?

The Raiders will reportedly have more than $57 million in cap space, and play a 4-3 defense that would allow Suh to play the spot with which he's most comfortable.

The Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday that teams believed the Dolphins were going to sign him. The weather and the absence of state taxes were supposed to be key reasons.

Detroit Lions let Reggie Bush go to save cap room for Ndamukong Suh?

The Raiders also might be able to offer Suh at least better weather. The team has joined forces with the San Diego Chargers to explore a joint move to Los Angeles as co-tenants of a new stadium. Suh could become the newest Hollywood star athlete, which also could be a financial incentive.

The Raiders' interest could weaken an already suspect pitch from the Indianapolis Colts. The Indianapolis Star reported Thursday that the Colts have reservations about Suh because of their 3-4 defense.

"After spending his entire NFL career in a 4-3 defense, playing the classic 'three-technique' defensive tackle position, joining a team like the Colts would entail a significant change in style for Suh. It's so significant that it's enough to give the Colts reason for pause," the Star reported.

In a 4-3, Suh has the ability to shoot through gaps between the center and guard to either stop the run or rush the passer. In a 3-4, Suh would be required to line up over the center, which limits his ability to go after the quarterback.

Playing nose tackle in a 3-4 is about clogging up the line of scrimmage to allow other players to make tackles. Paying Suh the $100 million he wants would not be a finally sound decision for a team that is going to take away his strengths at rushing the passer.
